Spring is finally here. We’re awfully sure your to-do list already feels overly long, but we have a few things that might save you some problems and keep you comfortable in the months to come. The weather is already heating up in Plainfield and the last thing you want is to uncover is that you’re in need of AC repair. Going through this simple checklist now might save you from sweating this summer.

  1. Inspect Your Air Filter and Ducts
Swapping your air filter makes it to almost every one of our lists of pointers because it's so important and so often left unaddressed. If your air filter is a mess, your system will have to work harder to keep you cozy. This costs you more money and causes more wear and tear which decreases the life and efficiency of your system. Your ducts and registers are a separate piece of the puzzle that is often neglected as well. While you're spring cleaning, take off the covers from your registers and vacuum inside them. While you have the covers pulled off, soak them in mild dish soap, give them a scrub and switch them after they've dried.
  2. Clean Your Outdoor Unit
Keep any outdoor units free of debris such as grass clippings, leaves or plant overgrowth. This debris can clog your system and cause it to lower its efficiency.
  3. Set Up Your Annual AC Tune-Up
This is where we enter the picture to help you work on that to-do list. An annual AC tune-up prolongs the life of your system and keeps it working at optimal efficiency. Spring is the ideal time to set up your tune-up so any concerns or AC repair that needs to be made can be handled before the hot summer months. The cost of a tune-up is a small investment into the life of your system. Think of it as giving your air conditioner an oil change.

We can't help you with the entirety of your spring to-do list, but we can help you with all things involving your home comfort. We want to be sure you’re cool and comfortable all summer long. If you have any questions about spring cleaning, your system or need to set up your annual AC tune-up, please give us a call at 815-768-6656.
